Timeless Applique from Sew'n Wild Oaks Quilting Blog

 Hello Everyone,

I worked my way through the torrential rain and snow at the cabin over the past five days on these precious little cuties which are made with my Hearthstone fabric line.

We never lost power during the storm, but we had intermittent Internet and TV during the worst of the snow on Saturday and Sunday.

I enjoy combining stripes, checks and prints.....and then there is the fussy cutting for the centers.  I showed you in my last post how I make the perfect circles with the Perfect Circle templates.

I LOVE working on an applique project.  I ...

Easy Four Patch from Quilt Doodle Doodles

I was playing around with my Strip iIt fabric the other day and found you could use it to jumpstart a disappearing four patch block. Out of each 5 1/2” x WOF you can get one block and leftover scraps for some snowball blocks. But if you cut 5” x WOF you can easily get two blocks. Let me explain… I played around and originally cut 5 1/2” widths for my sample and it wasn’t until I competed my block that I can get two blocks if I cut 5” widths. This would be playing with the ...

Bridle Path Progress from Sew'n Wild Oaks Quilting Blog

 Hello Everyone,

I've been quiet again since I've been creating a flimsy.  Bridle Path is all together and ready to be quilted.  Yesterday I put on the borders and the flange which is that cute little 1/4" of red fabric that frames the quilt.

I moved my machine out to the dining room table so I could spread the quilt out and have lots of space on which to work.

You can see we've had more snow.....again.  This Winter has been relentless.  At this writing, it is still snowing lightly. It looks like sifted powdered ...

A Very Special Anniversary! from Marcus Fabrics

We can hardly believe that it’s been 35 years since Judie Rothermel designed her very first line of quilting fabrics! In 2022, we’re celebrating the 35th Anniversary of Judie’s iconic designs for Marcus Fabrics and her unique contribution to the world of quilting!

That first collection came about because Judie grew tired of tea-dyeing the available prints at the time to achieve an antiqued look. So, she set out to design a group of prints with the look she desired. It debuted in the Marcus booth at Quilt Market in 1987. Since then, she’s created thousands ...

My Quilting Journey from Sew'n Wild Oaks Quilting Blog

 Hello Everyone,

And so, it began in 2014.  I made my first Emilie Elizabeth quilt named after my maternal grandmother.

The quilt was on display at Prairie Queens Quilt Shop in San Jose, CA when the Vice President of sales for Marcus Fabrics came into the shop with their sales rep.

I was contacted by the VP and asked if I would remake it for them using their fabrics by Judie Rothermel called Judie's Album Quilt.  The kicker was that I had about ONE month to recreate this quilt so that it could be on display in Houston for ...

Christmas Gnome from Quilt Doodle Doodles

It's hard not to start decorating for Christmas before Thanksgiving. I did invest in a couple of new trees this year. A smaller tree for in the dining room and an adorable pencil style tree for in the four season. Both of them are prelit which is awesome! I did put the pencil tree up in my four season. It's not decorated, I am loving the shape and size. I try really hard not to start pulling out the gnomes and snowman before Thanksgiving. I'll be hosting a small Thanksgiving dinner so that is helping to keep ...
